It’s often said that it’s an honor to be nominated…but the Free Hot Water team feels even more honored and excited to announce that it has won the 2013 Intersolar North America Project Award for our 15th St Solar Thermal and PV Project.
CEO and Chief Engineer Gal Moyal and Engineer Dean Kahan went on stage to accept the award, while Free Hot Water COO Paul Burrowes and Free Hot Water family and team members applauded from the audience.
Moyal said after receiving the award, “As a finalist, we were always optimistic that we could win, but it never hits home until they announce your name. We’re very pleased and thankful to the judges.”
Free Hot Water won for its design and engineering of the 15 St. Solar Thermal and PV Project in the Mission District of San Francisco. The 50-unit apartment building solar hot water and heating project was shown to be cost competitive with natural gas systems before incentives.
Moyal added, “This award recognizes that solar hot water can now compete with natural gas systems on a level economic playing field. With the right design and products, apartment building owners no longer need to choose between going green and conventional heating and hot water. They can now go with a solar thermal system at the same cost—or even lower when local and federal incentives are included.”
The Free Hot Water team would especially like to thank the 15 St. apartment building developer, Barack Jolish, for choosing Free Hot Water and steadfastly believing that it was possible to design an efficient, cost-effective, solar heating and solar hot water system for his apartment building renovation project.
